UEA 5s 0 - 3 Beccles (09/03/24)

A lovely sunny away day at UEA this week and another win for Beccles. This was a tough match and frustrating at times with things not quite falling into place as they usually do. It seemed like a fairly evenly matched game with both teams having a fair few chances on goal and a decent amount of possession. The match started well for Beccles in attack, however we did struggle getting the ball past their goalie. She was very confident in coming off her line to stop any short shots and was very agile, diving to stop back to back shots. A UEA foot on the goal line after a short corner did earn Beccles a penalty flick which Jodie went forwards for. Very well taken, a strong shot along the ground into the corner and past the goalie opened the scoring. There were plenty of other chances taken in the remainder of the first half and everyone worked hard around the goal, but nothing more on the score sheet.

UEA came back strong after the break and seemed to have quite a long period attacking our goal. They had a few short corners and some very close open play shots as well, but goalie Lorraine as well as our defenders did an excellent job in keeping the ball out. Beccles did manage to get a few counter attack chances with long hits from Marie reaching our eagerly awaiting forwards. On one of these attempts, Debbie managed to get free at the top of the D and strike the ball into the corner of the goal to take us 2-0 up. From this point there seemed to be a bit of a turnaround and Beccles started to be more in control; turning the ball over on their hit outs and shutting down their attacking runs. Again, a lot of narrowly missed shots and great saves, but Beccles kept the pressure on in the final quarter and were rewarded for this. Emma took one of her signature hits on goal, into the corner from the top of the D to secure to 3-0 win.

Great effort from everyone in a tough game.
