Beccles 2 - 1 Norwich City 6s (14/12/24)

Beccles were overjoyed to win this game with only 10 players, and at least 3 of them still recovering from the winter bugs! What a great early Xmas present this was! This was a very evenly matched game, with plenty of end to end play and scoring opportunities for both teams. The spectators were given a great game to watch, as Beccles played some great team hockey, and did some superb passes. About 5 minutes into the second half, Beccles opened the scoring when Hannah Roberts brought the ball out of defence and made a great forward pass to Hannah Devine. Hannah got the ball passed the encroaching City player to find Debbie Mann there just outside the D, and with only the keeper to beat, she slammed the ball across the goal near the far post to put Beccles 1-0 up. About 10 minutes later, Emma Taylor, who had been putting some great balls into space for the forwards all match, sent a terrific ball across the pitch to Hannah Devine, who also took it into the D and similar to Beccles’s earlier goal, sent it passed the keeper to put Beccles 2-0 up. About 5 minutes later City got a well taken equaliser, which then put pressure on Beccles as the gap narrowed. Every one of the team worked tirelessly with displaying skill and great teamwork and every Beccles player deserves a mention. The player who really caught my eye this week was left defender Mandy Kirby as she broke down frequent attacks, and cleared the ball away from the danger. It was a great team performance all round.

Team: Mandy, Gemma, Hannah R, Sara, Lorraine, Jodie, Emma, Rachael, Hannah D, and Debbie
