Beccles 2 - 1 Harleston Magpies 7s (30/11/24)

Beccles enjoyed their first win of the season after their match between these bottom two teams in the East division 4 NE with Beccles coming out on top. Danie Riches kindly offered to go in goal as both regular keepers were not available for this match. In the first half Beccles created plenty of scoring opportunities and had several penalty corners, but the Magpies defence were stopping everything thrown at them.  Eventually Beccles went ahead after Ruth Swann’s shot was initially saved by the keeper, but kicked out directly back into Ruth’s path and she sent a well-controlled raised ball into the goal.  The second half, Magpies attacked more with the defence having to endure bouts of pressure and Magpies eventually equalised.  However, Marie, who had been distributing some very good passes up the pitch all match, sent a great ball from around the 23 metre line, which found Ellie Kirby just in front of the goal. Ellie manoeuvred the ball passed her opponent and into the net. Everyone played well, and worked very hard, so it was great to see all that hard work pay off and Beccles take all three points.
