Beccles 2 - 2 East Coast 2s

A shaky start saw Beccles go 1-0 down from a strong East Coast counter attack in the 2nd minute of the game. As the match went on however, Beccles grew stronger and started to get a few more chances on goal. Towards the end of the first half, Beccles had a lot of possession and were managing to play the ball up the pitch very well, finding players with their hits and working well together to get around the opposition. The first half ended with a Beccles short corner which was taken well but was deflected over the back line by a defender.

East coast were plagued by injuries and were down to 10 players on the pitch and Beccles tried to take advantage of this. Straight after half time, Beccles managed to gain possession from an East Coast push back and Marie fired the ball up into the D where Beccles forwards were ready to receive it. After a couple of saved attempts, Tarnya managed to slot the ball into the corner of the goal, equalising the score line.

A few minutes later, thanks to some skillful runs from East Coast players, the opposition went ahead again. East Coast kept pushing us all the way to the end of the match, but throughout the second half, Beccles seemed to have the upper hand. Knowing the defenders had control of the Beccles goal and that Lorraine was having a great game in goal allowed Beccles to push harder in attack. This meant players were available for quick passes around the opposition, and a lot more chances were created on goal. In the final 10 minutes, Ellie finally managed to get the ball past their strong goalie to take the score to 2-2. With Marie, Emma and Jodie regularly using their strong hits to get the ball into the D, and Beccles players managing to get their stick on the end of them, it was a shame Beccles weren't able to score a few more in this match. The team seems to be finding their groove again though and hopefully some wins will follow soon!
