Beccles 2 - 0 Harleston Magpies 8s (13/01/24)

A great attacking start for Beccles this week saw us getting onto the score sheet within the first few minutes. A strong drive up towards the D from Jodie, Debbie and Rachael got the ball to Kath who was quickly closed down by defenders. A pass out to Hannah D who then crossed it back in to Ellie to secure the goal. Beccles managed to maintain a lot of possession and keep the ball in their attacking half for a lot of the match however the Magpies did have plenty of breakthrough runs to test our back line. In general, our defenders were able to close down the attackers quite high up the pitch so they didn't get too much time in the D. Great confident defending today from Sara, Hannah R, Mandy and Marie. Magpies did manage a couple of shots however, which were blocked by some nice goalie dives from Lorraine.

Beccles were quite unlucky with a few would be goals not awarded as the umpire had already blown the whistle for Magpies fouls. Unfortunately we were unable to convert any of the short corners awarded in these instances.

Towards the end of the match, Beccles did get another goal with Ellie again being in the perfect place to knock the ball in from the post after a great hit in from Emma and cross from Gemma. Overall it was a well matched, high tempo game with a lot of great teamwork and communication. Well played everyone!
