Beccles 0 v Norwich City 5ths 2

Fortunately, Barry Mann was at the ground and was able to step in when the umpire for Beccles didn’t turn up, otherwise it would have been a quick check on the England Hockey rules! Beccles could only muster up 10 players for this game, but what an ‘amazing’ performance (the word used by one of the city players after the game to Mandy). Danie Riches had a good game with some timely tackles, and Gemma moved from defence to the forward line to support the forwards who were keen to attack, but needed support. The defence consistently worked tirelessly doing a brilliant job especially as they were a defender down, but City finally broke the deadlock after 27 minutes. There was lots of good team play and the city team were a nice bunch of well organised players. Hannah Devine had some excellent runs down the right, but it was a hard ask when surrounded closely by usually 3 of the opposition. It was yet another game where the players felt if a couple of the more experienced players had been available, the team could have come away with some points. However, it was a good enjoyable game and that’s what matters most!
