Three goals from Jodie Sharp, and one each from Ali Foreman and Amy Thornton sealed this fine win after the disappointment of losing their first game this season on the team’s previous turnout. Having had to miss playing last week due to problems with the home pitch and then being told later in the week that the alternative pitch wasn’t actually available, Beccles were keen to get this game under their belt. Magpies fielded mainly young promising players but there was some discontentment among some of the players which only added to their plight. A lot of the first half was end to end play but it was the away team who created the most chances as the Beccles keeper was rarely troubled. The first half was well contested by both teams and Beccles did not manage to break the deadlock until 8 minutes before half time. Ali Foreman weaved her way down the left hand side of the pitch skilfully twisting and turning her way passed the opposition into the D and hammered the ball into the back of the next enabling Beccles to take the lead at half time. Beccles piled on the pressure in the second half and despite the Magpie keepers excellent performance they could not prevent Jodie Sharp's hat trick of goals. The best of these came from a penalty corner taken by Jodie to Ali Foreman who returned the ball to Jodie now on the near post, and she managed to slot the ball between the post and the keeper. Amy Thornton had a very industrious game as she dominated the left midfield, constantly winning the ball and dribbling her way towards the goal. The fifth goal was scored following one such run where Amy took the ball all the way into the D and then at a very tight angle, she slotted the ball through the space between the keeper and the post. This was a game where the three midfield players were fully involved in the game, resulting in them scoring all the goals.
