After yesterday’s tight game against Dragons, Beccles turned out again the following day to continue catching up on division 2 league games. After playing division 2 leaders Dragons the day before, they now had to be prepared for bottom of the division Evergreens who are yet to win a game. Beccles were disappointed not to have scored more goals, but the team were not on top form, and the finishing was not as good as it had been in the previous two weeks. The Evergreens keeper played very well, and with their defence, kept Beccles from fulfilling their aim. Jodie Sharp managed to break the deadlock after Ali Foreman had intercepted a clearance from the Evergreens defence, passed to Sharp who progressed into the D and struck the ball hard passed the keeper. Beccles had half a dozen penalty corners, but again their previous form eluded them. However Hannah Eaton picked up the rebound from one of these corners, and Beccles went in at half time 2-0 up. Beccles had the majority of the play, pushed the ball around nicely but still had to work hard to create scoring chances. Debbie Mann scored in front of goal with a reverse stick flick after receiving an excellent ball into the D from Ali Forman and that was all they could muster after the previous day’s epic battle. However the win now puts Beccles up into 3rd place with 2 games in hand.
