With Dragons currently lying top of division 2 of the Empresa Norfolk League, but having played more games than their 5th placed opponents, this was always going to be a very tough game for the home side. Beccles played with 10 players for the first few minutes of the game, before going to full strength. Dragons took the lead early on with only 9 minutes of play, after they managed to scramble the ball into the goal. Beccles immediately responded and the home side went level again after Max Gibbs converted a penalty corner. Dragons were a very well drilled side, with all of the squad of 13 playing their part, finding space, and passing well to each other as they progressed towards the goal, putting the Beccles defence under pressure. Defenders, Hannah Roberts and Sara Grant both had an admirable game against strong opposition. Dragons went in ahead 5 minutes before half time with another goal mouth scramble. Just into the second half, Hannah Eaton got on the end of Jodie Sharp’s shot to level the score once again. However this was short lived as Dragons came back again with a well taken shot, to put them back in the lead. Beccles needed to communicate better as when trying to close their opponents down, or intercept a pass, every so often they clashed with each other. However despite not gaining any points from this game, Beccles made Dragons work hard for their win.
