With neither team having a league match this week, Beccles and Loddon played a friendly game. Loddon fielded a mixture of first and second team players, while Beccles, having just the one team, were not at full strength, and probably on paper had slightly less experienced players. However it was a well fought friendly game which Beccles started intensely, getting into the flow right away.
Ali Foreman at left midfield had an exceptional game, covering most of the pitch throughout the game as she consistently switched from defence to attack. Max Gibbs at central defender also did an excellent job coping with the Loddon onslaught (especially Libo and Ruth) and also with her strong accurate 16 metre hits. Loddon however soon went ahead, and it stayed that way up to half time.
Loddon also had a good strong defence, very ably assisted by Lizzy Wilbourn, who despite her normal outfield position had an excellent game in goal, denying Beccles on several occasions. However, Beccles did manage to eventually equalise when Hannah Eaton penetrated the Loddon defence and put Beccles back on an even keel. However Loddon immediately retaliated from the centre pass and went straight for goal to go 2-1 ahead. Loddon added another one to their tally, before Jodie Sharp pulled one back. Beccles, despite creating the chances, could not find the finish against this good defence.
This week Beccles continue their division 2 promotion fight away to Herlings.
