With the disappointment of their home game being conceded last week due to the visiting team not having enough players, Beccles travelled to the den in Norwich for this division 2 match. Dragons defended well throughout the whole game, with the keeper putting in an excellent performance to keep the score level down. Dragons marked their opponents well, especially in the D, and played some nice passing hockey. However the Beccles keeper was rarely troubled as Dragons did not create many scoring opportunities. Beccles on the other hand, did have several chances to score, and eventually they were rewarded when Hannah Eaton opened the scoring after 10 minutes. Eaton added another to her tally when she went on a solo run down the left side of the pitch, into the D and shot passed the oncoming keeper.
Beccles went 3-0 up at half time following a Amy Thornton dash from defence, into the D and the move ended when Debbie Mann’s shot went into the goal. Ali Foreman and Amy Thornton ventured into attack on several occasions, skilfully manoeuvring their way through the opposition. Hannah Roberts, celebrating her 17th birthday, had a good game at right mid, with her accurate passing and intercepting of passes. Charlie Calladine scored two similar goals as she met the ball at the right post and hit it strongly into the goal. One such move had started from a free hit from Max Gibbs to Debbie Mann, and with Ali Foreman and Hannah Eaton also getting involved, Charlie was there to complete the move following good positioning and teamwork. Beccles remain undefeated and this results keeps them in 2nd place.
